Valve change-over : In turf irrigation when one valve station ( or set of valve stations ) is closing another valve station ( or set of valve stations ) is opening. This is a function of the irrigation controller ( clock ) . This results in a momentary increase of flow. Pump motor and impeller must be sized to not overload during valve change-over.

Shut-Off head :  Zero flow, maximum pumping  pressure. Add this to the static pressure to calculate total pump pressure at shut off. Total pressure must not exceed maximum pressure rating of pump and/or piping.

Run-Out :  Maximum flow for this impeller and horsepower. May use  the service factor of the motor. Exceeding this flow will cause damage to the pump and motor.
